The California Highway Patrol is offering free driving classes for teens and parents at 6 p.m. on September 8th. The class, Start Smart, will be held at the CHP 420 Club, 3910 Alfred Harrell Highway in Bakersfield and will cover safe driving, how to avoid accidents, and other important lessons for new drivers. The two-hour class is free, but space is limited. You can call the CHP at (661) 864-4444 to register.
According to the CDC, teens comprise only 14% of drivers on the road but account for 30% of all serious car accidents. Most at risk during their first year of driving, studies have shown that teens who complete safety courses are much less likely to cause accidents. Start Smart teaches teens how to drive defensively, avoid distraction, and prevent accidents. It also covers the consequences – physical, financial, and even criminal – that can follow poor driving decisions.
Utilizing resources that can help your teen avoid an accident is a good way to keep them safe, but even the best teen driver cannot prevent others from behaving negligently. If your teen has been injured in a car accident they did not cause, please contact the Law Offices of Mickey Fine online or call (661) 333-3333 for a free consultation.
